Books & Beers! Literature & Libations! Alcohol & Alliterations! We are here to provide it all with Teddy’s Book Club, meeting on the second Sunday of each month at 6:30 pm. Amanda will be hosting, and we’ll discuss the monthly selections and choose what we’d like to read for the upcoming month. We hope you’ll join us - but even if you can’t, please still get the book and talk to Amanda about it! Or - even better - strike up a conversation with someone else who is also reading it this month.
Please support your local bookstores! We are part of Changing Hands’s featured book clubs - which means a discount for you: 10% off paperbacks, 20% off hardcovers; in-store and online. Just mention us! Online, you’ll put it in the “comments” section, and the discount will be manually applied.
April’s 📚 : Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead
- Olga Tokarczuk
Amanda’s Commentary: Wow - whatta title! I’ve not read this one yet, but here’s my take:
This one’s technically a murder mystery, but that’s really just the vehicle for an exploration of madness, marginalization, predestination, and how we relate to each other. Originally published in Poland in 2009, it was shortlisted for the Man Booker International in 2019, and Tokarczuk won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2018.
